Dr. Gorski is the only hospital CEO in Rockford to be included on the list.

Dr. Gorski became SwedishAmerican’s president and CEO in June of 2001. Previously, in addition to maintaining a clinical practice at the health system’s Five Points clinic, he served as president of the SwedishAmerican Primary Care Group and as the organization’s chief medical officer. In those roles, Dr. Gorski was responsible for administration and strategic planning for all system-employed physicians and their practices.

Since becoming SwedishAmerican’s president and CEO, Dr. Gorski has developed strategies that center on focused growth in key clinical areas. He has guided the organization into a new era, marked by the completion of a major $100 million campus expansion and renovation effort that included a new, four-story heart hospital. The health system also has established SwedishAmerican Medical Center/Belvidere, opened the free-standing SwedishAmerican Regional Cancer Center in conjunction with the UW Carbone Cancer Center, and completed a merger with Madison, Wisconsin-based UW Health that is bringing $255 million in capital investments to the Rockford region.

Dr. Gorski received his bachelor’s degree from Kenyon College in Ohio. He received his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati and completed his family practice residency at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Rockford. He is board certified in family practice and is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American College of Physician Executives. Dr. Gorski also serves on the board of directors for SwedishAmerican.

Dr. Gorski has lived in Rockford for 39 years. He and his wife, Sue, have four grown children. He shares his leadership with the community by serving on the Transform Rockford Steering Committee, the Alignment Rockford Governing Board, the Rockford Area Economic Development Council and the ROCKFORWARD! Committee. Dr. Gorski also sits on the Rock Valley College Foundation board. He was a campaign chair for the United Way in 2012 and is a former United Way Board member. In addition, Dr. Gorski is past chair of the Rockford Health Council and serves on committees for the Illinois Hospital Association.

Dr. Gorski is included on this prestigious list as he has demonstrated outstanding leadership and clinical expertise throughout his career and has lead initiatives to improve SwedishAmerican and the healthcare communities it serves. To view the full list, please visit http://bit.ly/2bjIR45.
