TOWN HALL MEETING

CONGRESS AT LOGGERHEADS: HOPE FOR THE FUTURE

7pm to 8:30pm, Wednesday Nov. 3, 2021

Fisher Chapel, Rockford University, Rockford, Illinois

This is an open-format dialog with former Congressmen Dave Loebsack and Reid Ribble commenting and taking questions. The forum examines the role of Congress at a time of deep division in America. Is Congress merely a reflection of this division? How can Congress help resolve this problem? What role can citizens play? What is the role of the press?

Cong. Dave Loebsack, PhD (D-Iowa) is a former political science professor at Cornell College in Iowa. He unseated a thirty-year incumbent in the general election and served on the Committees on Armed Forces (Subcommittees on Personnel and Readiness), and Education. He is Professor Emeritus at Cornell College and continues to lecture and write.

Cong. Reid Ribble (R-Wis) ran a roofing business, won a three-way primary and unseated an incumbent in the general election. He served on the Committees on Transportation and Infrastructure, and Foreign Affairs (Subcommittees on Emerging Threats and Terrorism, and Non-proliferation). He is the president of the National Roofing Contractors Association. He teaches Leadership to officers from all military branches at annual conferences at the Army War College.

Former Congressman Don Manzullo will be moderating the event with Catherine Forslund PhD, chair of the Historical and International Studies Department and Director of the Institute.
