Nature Themed Poetry and Prose Reading

Rockford, IL – Natural Land Institute (NLI) will present the sixth annual Nature Poetry & Prose event on Friday, September 27 at 6:30 p.m. The poetry and prose reading event is presented in partnership with Nature at the Confluence, which is also the location of the program, 306 Dickop St., South Beloit. 

     Admission is free for NLI members and $5 for non NLI members (includes a one-time six month introductory membership to NLI). Light snacks and beverages will be available. Registration requested by Thursday, September 26. Register on the website calendar at www.NaturalLand.org

     The audience will be inspired by nature themed works while listening to writers read their creative compositions that commemorate their experiences and observations of the natural world.

     Several writers who are featured in NLI’s anthology, NATURAL VOICES, will read selections from the book at the event and include: Carolyn Bailey, Mary Caskey, Carol Fox, Don Miller, Wilda Morris, Lani Richardson, Dr. Karen Ruffner, Christopher Sims, Christine Swanberg, and Kaitlyn Tibbetts. NLI welcomes newcomer to the event, Katie Andraski. 

     The event timeline is as follows: Guests may arrive early or by 6:30 p.m. to mingle. The program will start with welcoming remarks and announcements at 6:45 p.m… Readings will begin at 7:00 p.m. and go until 8:30 p.m.

     Copies of the nature themed anthology, NATURAL VOICES: Celebrating Nature With Opened Eyes, will be available at the event for a $12 donation to Natural Land Institute. However, anyone who has a copy may bring it to have it signed by any of the authors.

About the Book

The soft-cover book, published by Natural Land Institute is called, NATURAL VOICES: CELEBRATING NATURE WITH OPENED EYES, and is a collection of pieces written by past event participants: Carolyn Bailey, Dorothy Bock, Mary Caskey, Ed Collins, Sandra Fenton, Carol Fox, Don Miller, Wilda Morris, Chelsea Peterson, Christopher D.
