FREEPORT, IL – Cornerstone Credit Union (CCU) was a recipient of a $20,000 grant as part of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago’s (FHLB) COVID-19 Relief Program, designed to support its member institutions and the communities they serve in Illinois and Wisconsin directly impacted by the current pandemic. An additional $1,000 was donated through an employee fundraiser lead by the CCU Community Relations Committee.
Gail Clore, Cornerstone Credit Union President/CEO, stated, “We are committed to supporting our members and communities, now more than ever. Through our partnership with FHLB, we were able to award monies to seven local organizations we selected based on three pillars: health, safety and family. We are grateful for this opportunity to give back.” Clore added, “Cornerstone is proud to join the long list of community partners that have donated their resources to those in need over recent months.” Recipients include six organizations located in the 11-county area served by Cornerstone, plus the Illinois Credit Union Foundation.

- Freeport Arts Center
- CGH Health Foundation
- Sauk Valley Food Pantry
- Beloit Health System Foundation, Inc./South Beloit Clinic
- Illinois Credit Union Foundation
Clore noted how incredible it has been to watch how these communities have bonded and strengthened each other in the midst of crisis. Cornerstone is dedicated to their over 80-year commitment of local giving for local living.
