Goldie B. Floberg Center receives $12,000 Blazer Foundation grant
Rockton, IL (April 4, 2017) – Goldie B. Floberg Center received a grant of $12,000 from the Blazer Foundation to help fund annual participation for children and adults in camp and therapeutic riding active therapies.
The Blazer Foundation grant will support funding of the Goldie B. Floberg Center annual active therapies programs participation for 2017. Children and adults with developmental disabilities served by Goldie B. Floberg Center participate in therapeutic riding and annual camps, depending on personal desire and therapeutic needs. Individual benefits include social skill building, physical therapy, emotional and behavioral benefits, as well as building positive relationships and life experiences which transfer into everyday life.
The $12,000 grant is a portion of a total annual program budget which is not reimbursed by State funds. Goldie B. Floberg Center CEO, John Pingo, Ph.D. BCBA-D, stated, “We cannot thank Blazer Foundation enough for its generosity and compassion for the folks we serve. We believe every individual has a right to access the experiences and benefits of these programs. With these funds, we can offer this option without having to divert funds from elsewhere in our budget and without having to decide that this year someone won’t have the opportunity to participate in something that brings them so much fulfillment.”
Goldie B. Floberg Center – In 2018, Goldie B. Floberg Center will celebrate 100 years of helping underserved children and families in the Northern Illinois community. Today, Goldie B. Floberg Center delivers the Mission “to empower and enrich the lives of all people served” to children and adults with developmental disabilities. Through programs such as small group community living services, employment services, and adult learning services, Goldie B. Floberg Center partners with the people served, their families and the community to help individuals with disabilities become fully actualized citizens and members of their community.
