SwedishAmerican Celebrates 815 Day; Breaking Ground on New
$4.1M Clinic at 815 Marchesano Drive in Southwest Rockford
SwedishAmerican, a division of UW Health is celebrating 815 Day with the groundbreaking of its new $4.1 million clinic located in southwest Rockford, 815 Marchesano Drive.
SwedishAmerican leadership, board members and doctors along with City of Rockford Mayor Tom McNamara; Winnebago County Board Chairman Frank Haney; 5th Ward Alderman Venita Hervey; Rev. Dr. Kenneth Board; local families and residents and other elected officials wore 815 Tshirts and hardhats while breaking ground on SwedishAmerican’s new clinic that will improve access for southwest Rockford area residents.
The new multispecialty clinic will sit on approximately 1.25 acres with a total of 8,000 square feet and will feature primary care, obstetrics, lab and imaging services. The site, near Providence Baptist Church and the new Rockford Fire Department Station 3, will include up to six medical practices.
“This is a very exciting day for SwedishAmerican and for the residents in southwest Rockford,” says SwedishAmerican President & CEO Dr. Michael Born. “This new clinic represents SwedishAmerican’s continued commitment to our entire community, specifically offering an access point and availability of services to residents who have historically not had a neighborhood clinic near them.”
Rockford Mayor Tom McNamara applauds SwedishAmerican for investing in Rockford’s southwest side, saying the new clinic will help meet the needs of patients, families and residents in the area.
“Focusing on Rockford’s southwest side is a priority for the City of Rockford,” says Rockford Mayor Tom McNamara. “We are close to completing construction on South Main Street, the Rockford Fire Department recently moved into its new Station 3 and now Swedes is building a clinic on Marchesano Drive to help meet primary care and obstetrics needs in our community. This is great news for the City of Rockford and our residents.”
The clinic will add approximately 75 construction jobs and permanent healthcare jobs. Construction is to begin later this year with completion in 2018.
